  • Jafari

Jafari and his family relocated to Worcester, MA, seeking sustainable employment to take care of his family. He attended a bilingual job fair at MassHire Career Center, recommended to him by the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA).

Previously, Jafari worked part-time as a stock clerk at a local grocery store and saved enough to enroll in CDL A training.

During the job fair, he was introduced to Dawn, a Career Counselor at MassHire, who guided him through the eligibility and suitability process required for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) training funds and resume building assistance. With the help of WIOA funds, Jafari completed CDL A training and now works as a driver for a local transportation company.

He is grateful to Dawn for her guidance and is excited about the increased income. He hopes he will be able to buy a home for his family in the future.

  • Jennifer

“MassHire Central Career Center helped me remain hopeful and positive for over a year when I was unemployed.”

Jennifer shared her success story, emphasizing her awareness of the job market changes after a 19-year break. She described the challenge of updating her resume for ATS systems and recognized the importance of updating her skills.

While attending Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) workshop, she learned about WIOA trainings and decided to enroll in Digital Marketing and Creative/Marketing Project Management courses.

As she pursued her training, she applied for TOPS, which extended her unemployment insurance benefits.

Her enrollment in these courses directly impacted her job search, resulting in more interviews and landing her a Global Marketing Project Manager role with a leading candle manufacturer. Reflecting on her journey, Jennifer credits her success to WIOA training grant,

“The courses gave me the skills and confidence to excel in today’s competitive job market. Without them, I wouldn’t have landed this role.”

She notes that the career guidance and job search assistance provided by Dawn Buddington and Bill Starr were invaluable.

  • Lois

My desire to become a nurse has been with me for a long time, but life’s challenges always seemed to get in the way. Starting the journey felt like the hardest part, and I wasn’t sure how I would manage. But I decided to take a leap of faith, determined to push through, no matter the obstacles. It was during this time that I met Ms. Wendy Gould from MassHire at the orientation for my Nursing Program at Bay Path Practical Nursing Academy.

Ms. Gould shared information about the organization and the various support programs they offer to the community, including training funds available through the MassHire Central Career Center. She gave us her contact details and encouraged us to reach out if we needed assistance. I took her up on the offer and reached out to her. She was incredibly kind and supportive, walking me through every step of the process.

I was then connected with Nelson, my counselor, who has truly been a blessing. He has supported me at every stage of this journey, regularly checking in to see how I’m doing and if I need any help. His consistent encouragement has been uplifting, and I always look forward to our conversations. They motivate me to keep pushing forward.

It’s difficult to put into words just how much MassHire and the entire team mean to me. Their support has had a profound impact on my life. They haven’t just helped me financially, but have also been a steady source of encouragement, which has made my educational journey much more manageable. With the financial assistance they’ve provided, I’ve been able to focus more on my studies and less on financial stress.

The unwavering support from MassHire has been a cornerstone of my success, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Their belief in me has given me the strength to overcome challenges and the motivation to keep moving forward. I’m deeply grateful for everything they’ve done, and I hope to make them proud.

  • Amanda

“I am eternally Grateful to MassHire”

After joining a sobriety house to recover from addiction, Amanda found herself without the financial means to improve her life. However, her case manager at Veteran Inc. provided her with MassHire flyers, which sparked her determination. Amanda attended a Career Center Seminar at MassHire and then decided to participate in a Job Readiness Workshop.

Career Counselors recognized and supported her goal to upskill and connected her with Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) staff who helped her enroll in grant-funded Phlebotomy training. While attending WIOA training, she signed up for the 3-week stipend Access to Recovery (ATR) program that provides necessary tools, support, and guidance to build a more fulfilling life.

As a result of her hard work and the support she received, Amanda graduted a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), as well as a Phlebotomy and EKG technician.

“I am extremely grateful for the generous grant from MassHire, which allowed me to further my education and secure a job as a Phlebotomy and EKG technician instructor after obtaining my state certification,” Amanda expresses.

She attributes her success to the career development experts at MassHire, particularly Carlen, Emma, and Jibrael, who provided valuable guidance throughout the entire process.
